The symptoms you are experiencing may be from stress.

By Andrew Hoffmann

Symptoms of stress are not unnatural in and of themselves. An example of stress is, if you are driving and another car suddenly pulls out in from of you, stress is understandable and necessary to help you react faster. Stress without immediate emergency it not good for you. Knowing the symptoms of stress is helpful, so this article is going to look at the common ones.

Stress can cause us to feel the need to either eat too much resulting in weight gain or not eat enough resulting in unhealthy weight loss. Feeling tense and not eating could mean that you are missing out on much needed nutrients and you could also lose weight. Stress related eating disorders are not uncommon. Eating the wrong types of foods can cause you to gain weight, just as easy as overeating. Emotional eating is one of the symptoms of stress and it can be dangerous. You may find that it is hard to cut back on your calories if you are consistently eating.

Stress can also interfere with your ability to think clearly. When people are frequently under pressure, their minds tend to race and they aren't able to think about things in a calm and collected manner. Your mind may be racing around but you are unable to focus an adequate amount of attention to the important decisions at hand. With this in mind, it's a good idea to attempt relaxation techniques or even meditation before making big decisions. You definitely don't want to increase your level of stress as a result of bad choices you make while stressed out.

Substance abuse can be a serious symptom of stress that can have extremely damaging consequences. Becoming an alcoholic or a drug addict can also be one of the symptoms and consequences of stress. The temptation to drink alcohol and take illegal drugs is admittedly difficult to resist especially during times of unbearable stress but these are not the best solutions - temporary but not the best ones. If you observe these dangerous behaviors slowly taking over your life, you have to reach out to others for appropriate help lest your life become ruined by stress.

The symptoms of stress are never pleasant. The more you are aware of the parts of your life that cause stress, the more likely you will be able to make positive changes. Your life can be worse in many ways due to stress, but by preventing it, you can improve your quality of life.
