The Truth About Using Liposuction For Cellulite

By Sandra Limes

Almost all women around the world cannot avoid cellulite. Whatever your age, weight, or fitness level, if you're a woman, chances are that you have experienced the frustration of cellulite for yourself.

Even men can suffer from this painless but emotionally debilitating affliction.

Usually cellulite is appearing on the hips and outer thigh area. Pockets of fat bulge and create an "orange skin" appearance. This can be very discouraging, especially when you work out on a regular basis and are eating sensibly.

In the struggle against cellulite, many women think that removing fat with liposuction is the easiest and most effective way to remove cellulite. Unfortunately, liposuction does not always solve the problem. In some cases it can even worsen the appearance of cellulite.

The typical liposuction procedure is performed by making small incisions, inserting a hollow cannula under the skin, and then using this to remove the fat. For areas such as the waist or knees, this is relatively simple and effective.

Removing fat from such cellulite areas on the thighs, however, can be a bit harder. Body fat is stored in compartments known as lobes, which are supported by your body's muscles.

As fat is added over time, those lobes become overly full, and bulge out on top of muscle fibers, creating that dreaded dimply look. This is mostly a problem on the thighs for most women. Removing this fat via normal liposuction can leave the skin loose and saggy, which will not improve appearance and may actually make the area look worse.

Plastic surgeons have long been aware of the failure of traditional liposuction to deliver results in treating cellulite. They have experimented with different techniques trying to find a better solution. A recent breakthrough in the field, known as Endermologie, combines liposuction technology with mechanically stimulating the skin to treat cellulite.

It requires no surgery and utilizes suction and rollers that deliver an intense massage to the fat cells. This smoothens the lumps and bumps while stimulating blood flow to improve appearance.

Over the course of therapy, the bulging pockets of fat are gradually leveled to create a smoother, more even appearance. This can be effective for a short time but it is not the final solution to cellulite. It usually delivers better results than traditional liposuction, with none of the surgical risks or side effects.

If you want to get rid of your cellulite, a massage therapy may be a better choice than liposuction. These non-invasive techniques not only improve the appearance of cellulite, but they require no anesthetic and cause no harmful side effects. Talk to your physician about using these therapies to treat your cellulite issues, because you deserve to be free from the frustration of cellulite!
