Answer honestly: do you sometimes think that God doesn't care about you having abundance and prosperity here on earth? I mean, He has the whole world to run right? True He watches over everyone on earth but He is God and He makes time to make sure you are healthy and more than well taken cared of. If you still can't wrap your mind around this truth, walk with me through several prosperity scriptures in the Bible.
Begin with the very first book in the Bible and you will find many of God's chosen people blessed and well provided for. Abraham's possessions and riches were such that he had to make a choice to separate with his nephew because they had too much cattle and herds that the land could not support both of them. Sarah, his wife was so beautiful that a king almost made her part of his harem. Did I mention she was ninety? Incredible right? That's supernatural prosperity at work.
What about Joseph? He was a father's favorite, sold by his jealous brothers to a slave trader. He landed in Egypt where he helped prosper Potiphar before he was thrown to prison by the scorned mistress of the household. Now he's in prison, again faithfully serving people even as he seemed to be forgotten and rejected by people he trusted and cared about. This almost reads like a hopeless life if not for the twist that he becomes Egypt's revered prime minister in one day. Is your story? Years strewn with broken promises and darkened memories? God knows all about you and He too will lift up your head.
Hopefully, you're getting some glimmer back in your eyes. You agree that God wants to bless His people. But you argue, all those stories are centuries ago and written for His people, the Jews. If you think this has nothing to do with you, think again. Study New Testament scriptures and you will realize that the promises given to Abraham somehow made its way to you. That's right, when God said, 'I will bless you and make your name great; I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed' (Genesis 12:2-3)--it now applies to you as well. Believe it so you can walk in its reality.
People say that God espouses poverty and points to select Bible verses to prove their point. This cannot be true because there are many scriptures that show God rewarding His faithful people with prosperity and promises of abundance."Chronicles 22:13 If you obey the laws and teachings that the LORD gave Moses, you will be successful. Be strong and brave and don't get discouraged or be afraid of anything. Mark 10:29-39 'I tell you the truth', Jesus replied, 'no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields-and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.'
Prosperity scriptures come with caution to those receivers of the promise. You need to be good stewards and not prioritize money over God and neighbor. Wise counsel that balances the desire of God for our personal abundance. Jesus said, 'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.--It is a promise worth claiming.'
