Mind Training Begins With Understanding Your Subconscious Mind

By John L. Holmes

Since the subconscious mind is always in control of our behavior (in the long run) it seems crucial that we understand how it operates. Successful mind training requires that knowledge. Creating a happy, successful, fear free life also requires it. Here are some basic concepts that should be helpful.

The subconscious mind appears dormant, but it is not. Everything we perceive goes to the subconscious mind and gets processed. Only things is we do not get the output so straightforward. You have to make attempts to connect to your subconscious self for the output to be evident. The subconscious mind processes each and every thing you experience. If you experience something bad, you may forget it very soon. However, it gets stored in the subconscious mind and when you experience something similar, it will send emotions to tackle with it. You will unconsciously respond to the event depending on the past experiences.

Unlike the conscious mind, the subconscious mind never sleeps. It is always doing things. When we learn how to contact it and use it (through mind training), we can set it to working on things for us even while we are asleep.

In our daily lives, we often use the unconscious mind. You can also use it to achieve goals. Only thing is you need to program it to work the way you want.Every thing you perceive goes to the unconscious mind as well as the conscious part. However, the subconscious mind doesn't know what is real and what is imagined. It is also capable of thinking only literally. It doesn't understand humor and emotions.

Visualization is one of the best techniques to tap into your unconscious self. By visualizing images of success, you have programmed your unconscious mind to achieve success. However, you have to do this on a daily basis.Positive thoughts are also a good way to connect. You need to have absolute control over what you think. You can control your thoughts by being conscious and aware of what you are thinking. Eliminate stray thoughts and think positively. When you do that, you will be sending positive signals to your unconscious self.

Many of our directives were planted in our subconscious mind by other people, especially when we were very young before we could evaluate or defend ourselves mentally. It hears parents (for example) saying we are precious and it believes it and forms an "I'm precious" directive. I hears parents say we are worthless and it forms an "I'm worthless" directive. By the time a child begins really thinking about himself objectively at four or so, lots of directives have already been set for him. When they are positive and helpful they direct a good and successful life. When they are negative and hurtful they direct an unhappy, unsuccessful life.

Give your subconscious mind a challenging goal, but pace yourself. Going for it all right off the bat is a recipe for disaster.Understand now that there will be setbacks. There will be struggles and difficulties. But keep in mind that those things are only temporary. No setback has to be permanent. It only becomes so if you allow it. It's your responsibility to train your subconscious and conscious minds to see the difference between setbacks and failures. When you hit a roadblock, go around it. When you have a bridge to cross, cross it with confidence.Tell yourself that no matter what, you will accomplish that goal. Your subconscious mind, once it has the assurance that you want it to work on a goal, will do whatever it takes to succeed. But if it has the slightest bit of doubt (i.e. you're not totally convinced of what your want, or if you can accomplish it) then it struggles to find solutions.Be persistent, persevere through tough times, decide confidently in what you want and allow no temporary setback to put you off course. If you relay this message to your subconscious mind by making a conscious decision that this is what you want, your subconscious mind will respond.Remember, your subconscious mind exists to serve you. Put it to work in a productive way and it will provide overwhelming results.Make conscious decisions that are in the best interest of your overall goals, and your subconscious mind will receive the message, and go to work. The more you utilize the great power that your subconscious mind provides, the better you will be at calling on it. And the better you get at calling on it, the more success you will realize.
