How Many Different Kinds Of Electrical Substation Design Are There

By Edward Fisher

In the long and complicated history of mankind, there has been a search for more. More resources, more territory, and most importantly, more power. For the longest time, scientist has looked for an infinite source of power that will never run out. This endeavor has currently not yielded any results that could be used in the field. But, there are many different examples of what is used by people over the years for energy.

When the power of electricity was graced upon man, it had become the biggest thing. In the past, people had no idea of its existence, as the only proof that it existed was when people go shocked by electrical fishes. Lightning, the ultimate form of electric power, was not yet considered as electricity until an experiment proved it was. Electrical substation design is modern machines that make things easier.

There was a time when the knowledge of electrical power was still not known to anybody, even the scientist that existed during those time periods. The reason for this was because electricity itself cannot be seen unless the discharge is high enough for it to become visible. The best example of this is when the lightning bolt strikes down. Blue streaks are seen but most in the Ancient world and even the postmodern, did not know that this was electricity.

A substation is part of a system that generates, transmits, and distributes electrical energy. The substation can transform the voltage from devices and change them from high and low, among other important functions that it has. When going through the process, it may happen that a generating stating and consumer will get voltages that have transferred from substations to substation.

These stations are owned by big companies or governments that help in securing the energy for villages and those that are around these areas. In most cases the stations will not be attended by anybody but is monitored by cameras and operated remotely. The types of stations are a lot but here are the three main ones that is commonly seen and used.

For the purpose of transferring the power to one place to another, a transmitting substation is used. Inside these stations, the generators are connected to each other via two connectors that let it transfer the electric currents to a switch. This helps so that if there are any problems, it is solved immediately.

For distribution stations, the power is gotten from the transmissions systems and gets the energy from there. It is not cost effective to connect the lines directly from consumers to a main electrical network. This is unless consumers use a large amount of power like malls.

The one that comes after is conversion. Sometimes the currents are too high or too low in output, thus needing converting to power voltages. When there are direct and alternate currents that come across each other, they will need to be converted to proper ones as well.

Because of having electricity, many things have been achieved. The lives of people have become a bit more convenient and easier to live through. It made entertainment possible and helped in advancing so many things that would never be possible without it.
